Full Page L.A. Times Article in Sunday Calendar – December 6th
After a recent momentous double-screening in Westwood with over 1,200 high school girls, the buzz has already begun. The Los Angeles Times was there to document the screening and an article on the film, and filmmakers, is set to appear in the December 6th edition of the Sunday Calendar.
I was at the screening in Westwood, and if anything I though the movie was too pro-choice. Was the writer of the article watching the same movie I saw?
I have not seen the movie yet, but have seen the trailer and read the LA Times article. I also did a review of the article for one of my college classes. I think it is very important to inform young girls about abortion and both sides of the debate. Too often the debate is polarized. Some women are quick to say they’re ‘pro-choice’ but do not know what abortion really is or what long-term emotionally and psychological effects it can have on you. I don’t believe that abortion should be illegal, but I do believe that women should be given full information about what the procedure is about and given all of their options, including adoption, when going into a clinic. This is not currently being done, and abortion is seen as a ‘quick fix’ but it can actually be the start of emotional baggage, for the ‘fetus’ is a human, and you will feel the pain of death and know that you took someone else’s life after it is all over.
I just sincerely hope that this movie can start an open, honest dialogue among women. No one wants to control a woman’s body, but women need to know that abortion isn’t the band-aid people think it is to fix having unprotected sex.
I do not like to post comments but sometimes you just have to! Way to go with your post!
